Zebbie fledglings!
Pingu and Yuki went straight on to the next clutch after the last one, and theyre doing another great job!
Am i right in thinking i have, a pied fawn, a fawn and a normal?
They are really sweet and they look stunning so far. I love them at this age (just under 3 weeks) as theyre growing so much every day!

Amazing that they will sit in your hand.
Mine freak out and zip all over the cage when I put my hand in to change the food dish.

Gary,
you can't hold zebra chicks even at this age? Mine are usually so "stupid" that I can hold mine up until around 5 weeks old. Then they get the common finch sense ;)

Re: Zebbie fledglings!
NONE of my zebras would tolerate my hand once they fledged.
And man are they FAST.
Gouldians on the other hand, I can easily grab them off the perch. Takes them a few weeks to learn to avoid my hand.

Re: Zebbie fledglings!
Funky, actually I see difference between personalities. In my last clutch I had one that was very tame and if I took him out he would just sit and hang around me, while one of his siblings just flew straight away.
If I had more room, I would like to try to breed finches by how tame they are.

very cute fledglings!!
its a fawn, pied fawn and normal grey.
And i am gonna guess:
I think the NG chick is a boy
and the other two are girls..

Re: Zebbie fledglings!
Thanks everyone
Nice to have confirmation of their colourings.
I am currently trying to breed for tameness, daddy bird used to sit on my hand until i got him a girlfriend, then i was cast aside!
He will sit on my hand sometimes when i take the babies out, just to make sure theyre safe in his eyes.
The mum was a pet shop buy and had a very brief taming session with Ziz when she came and would sit on my hand with him.She will sometimes jump on my hand when i have the babies out.
Uncle Ziz still sits on my hand and helps tame all the babies, they copy him and the daddy pingu usually hops back on my hand again.
The normal one, which i think is a boy as well Vargur
, is just like daddy and is really comfortable in my hand and will fall asleep in it!
The fawn pair arent as tame, the 'pure' fawn one is getting more confident every day and loves being 'preened' on the cheek by me ! The pied fawn is very shy and prefers te company of other birds but will happily sit in my hand if accompanied by the others.
I have tonnes of videos and pics of them on a page i set up for all my zebbies on facebook, will try and get a few more pics up here as they grow.
Btw the normal one, has black dots on its chest. Am i right in thinking he shouldnt get his colours till about 5 weeks old?

Re: Zebbie fledglings!
sometimes the chicks get their colors (well, atleast few feathers)
while still in the nest.
Some are just qicker than others getting their adult feathers
one of my male chick started to sing only 4-5 weeks old!
Well, he was not good though

Oh right, i'm nt used to seeing adult colours so early. This pairs last few males have been really late in getting adult colours. Cant wait to see how these 3 turn out as adults
