Fawn cheek?
I have three zebras that fledged this morning. Female is a penguin and male is Fl. Fancy.
The chicks appear to be fawn cheek however I see a little rouge in the fawn color.
Colors that appear silver are from flash, color is actually snow white.

John they are adorable. I would say I see some FF in them but the buff/orange/fawn coloring throws me a bit. I see a slight tear on one, and the one in the bottom picture is not colored thike the others. Pretty though very different....do any have faint breast bars?

JohnBoy, they are gorgeous! They look like little autumn pumpkin finches! I wonder if they will keep that light colouring or moult out like a CFW?

I just love their colors. Do you know if they are male or female yet? So cute!

John do you know what mutations the parents of the fawn penguin are? Is she your only penguin?

Re: Fawn cheek?
I do not know the parents of the two adults. Nor do I know what color they were. It is hard to keep track when you colony breed. When I see unusual colors or marking that I am not familiar with I then decide to put them aside for future pairing. These I do breed in cages.cindy wrote:John do you know what mutations the parents of the fawn penguin are? Is she your only penguin?

Re: Fawn cheek?
Whatever these little Autumn babies are they are sweet!!!!! It will be interesting to see how they change as they molt out in to adult feathers.

Aww, they are sooo cute!!
Beautiful
Look like FF!
I dont know if FF babies are born with
cheeks like that,
but they look like FC to me.
here is a photo of an adult zebra.

They do not look like isabels to me,
my baby isabels are fawn or grey, not white.

Re: Fawn cheek?
Vargur, usually the male FFs look like their sisters and color up slowly, I thought I had 2 silvers until they startedgetting feathers after a molt and one was getting little cheek patches.
In regards to John's chicks I wonder since the mom is penguin and has the white cheeks if adding a FF it put the cheek patches back in early on instead of after a molt.

Re: Fawn cheek?
Well..
I asked about the chicks
and I was told that they are FC!
Congrats on that!!
I was also told that mommy finch appears to
be LB BB, Not penguin.
You can see the small black marking near the beak that
indicates that she is BB.
Do you have better photo of the mom?

Also the male is not a light back. The color is snow white. If the color appears differently in the pic it is because of the flash or other causes that cause the color to appear differently than it is.

New pics. I believe they are all female. One may be male but not quite sure yet.
