Whats Everyones Favorite Australian Finch Species

Post by Aussiefinchfanatic » Thu Feb 14, 2008 12:05 am

Australia has the most amazing finches especially Gouldians, Longtail(shafttails), Stars, Double bars(Owls) just to name a few.

To see them in the wild come by your birdfeeder in the backyard words cant describe you hold your breath.

I would like to keep a few species when I have the space to build a large aviary.

Just reminding you that the gouldians in the wild are declining rapidly here in australia its up to everyone who loves finches to play their part in keeping these birds alive even if your on the other side of the world.

Rats, this thing wouldn't let me cheat! I tried to check both Star and Owl, but it wouldn't work. So I went with the Star, but Owl and Gouldian are right up there with it. I just can't imagine looking out my window and seeing some Gouldians or Stars or Owls--heaven!

Gouldians and Owls. I may breed owls one day (WAYYYYYY down the road, we're talking years). And I'm a big fan of supporting the gouldian conservation effort to keep them thriving in the wild.

I may have missed out a few because it only gave me that many options 10 or so. Longtails, Crimsons did not make the list.

I don't know what to vote for! I raise gouldians, which I love. I adore my little owls (even though they won't breed for me). AND I just picked up two pair of Painteds, which are the COOLEST birds!

Thanks! We put that notice up after losing some birds that we sold to people who hadn't done their homework first. I've sold to newbies, but only after they've convinced me that they've researched enough to understand how to take care of them.

That is a tough one! I love the Gouldians...but the Owls and Shafttails are right up there too. Each species has their own unique things to love about them!

But I love my Star who loves to sing to me!!

Hmm, what about the Shaft Tails? Just look how cute mine is (see avatar). But then again I have Zebs, Goulds and Stars as well. Though choice, like deciding who is your favourite child, you love them all for certain aspects. Sorry I cant decide
