I believe they call that color 'green'. And I would hazard a guess that it might be an American Singer... (but, just a guess)...

Beautiful canary!

Looks like green Border/Roller cross in green.
By her size she definitely has Border in her.

She is huge. And very very fluffy... lol

I'm just wondering though, why is her tail pale yellow? It's weird because the rest of her is "green".

Another thing, on her band (which is a split band), the only number I see is 11. So I assumed that it means 2011 (this year), right? But she definatly looks older then a bird who could've been born just a few months ago imo d: Any ideas?

She is 20 percent variegated
But still called a green
Even though she isn't 100 percent green

Shows how little I know about Canaries - I was going to say she is a Gloster - consort (without the crest)...

Found some pics online:

Looks almost like my canary (even down to the bright patch of yellow under the beak and the pale yellow tail), plus the slightly round fluffiness like in the 2nd pic. It says they are variegated American Singers.

My canary is just slightly duller in colour overall, with some gray. Lol, everyone has differant opinions about her x3

American singers are roller/border crosses and some other canary mixed in.
Yours defiantly had border in her and is slightly varigated
Variegation is judge by percentages, or light varigate, med, or heavy

Give me the all the writing on the ring.
It should mean that she was born in 2011.
does it say AAC 11 plus some other numbers or letters?

It says 3 AAC HWL 11 or something like that. I can't really see it so well, since it's night and I don't want to try to catch her to look at it closely.

3 AAC HWL 11

The #3 is the number of the bird born.
The AAC is Avicultural Advancement Council of Canada
HWL is the initials of the breeder. Mine are JJS
And 11 is for 2011

hope it helps?

I'm still a bit confused with the 3...

I can't help but notice that her nails were pretty long for such a young bird, maybe it's differant with canaries (do their nails grow quicker?), but with my society finches, their nails usually don't get that long unless they haven't been cut for 2-3 years..I actually never had to cut any of my finches' nails, they seem get worn down pretty well by the pedi-perches.

Not being from America I would say bigbear is right that it may be a American singer, I'm also on an American Canary forum and they are boarder fancy cross roller so that why it looks to have boarder shape to it, definitely not a gloster but I can see why you mau have thought this and its probably due to the head and back area being straighter than the boarders but this actually comes from the rollers. Yes the colour is classed as Green which is the original wild colour which canaries come in. As for the year it would be 2011, breeding season for you over there would start around Feb to roughly June so this will give you a rough estimate of about 4-8 months old which is a perfect age to buy but you won't know the sex of it till its at least 6 months of age this is when the males will start to get their voice and sing. Very nice Canary never had any American singers here in Australia but I have seen some videos of males singing and they sound very good. As for nails it depends on the individual bird, I've had some birds young that need their nails clipped around 6 months old and some that don't, I've even got some that are 5 years of age that I've never even touched. I've found that you can buy sand paper perches that help trim nails and also rough tree branches work in a similar way

The American singer are great pets and unsurpassed for their singing. One of the things they are judged on is their freedom of song...meaning singing in the presence of normal household activities. These birds are highly responsive to song training and can master most any canary song from soft rollers to the loudest trimbrados....
here is a bit of info about them. Hope you have a purebred as they are one of the greatest songsters around :D
