Missing Feathers over Ears

Post by birdclaws » Thu Oct 06, 2011 10:47 am

I recently got 3 female gouldians from a lady on craigslist. I didn't notice at the time, but once I got back home and examined the birds, I saw that two of them have feathers missing over their ears. We contacted the lady to see if they had been treated for air sac mites and she said they have been treated once a month since she got them. Shouldn't scatt be used less than that? I wasn't sure if possibly they had just been pecked at, but it seems a little odd that the both of them have feathers missing in the same spot. They do seem healthy besides that and are energetic and eating normally.

Here are two photos of one of the females.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Beautifull bird! Beware the airflow now! You'll have to wait for her to molt so that she regain her perfect look! Seems to me that she's ok! Good luck !
