Melanistic zebra...?

Post by newlinta » Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:58 pm

I got this guy at a local broker over the weekend...just because I thought he was interesting. Not sure if he's melanistic or if a few mutations are fighting each other or what. He has a blotchy black/white belly and the space in front of his teardrop is partially filled in. Maybe black face and black breast fighting one another? I'm not sure if his cheek patches are enlarged(bb)...any thoughts?

Looks like he is Melanistic.

Thanks...that's what I thought. It's pretty cool looking anyway.
Will all the black molt out, given proper diet/lighting?
