I am so glad I took a chance and bought mine.
They are wonderful little birds!
I hope mine breed for me?

Re: Lavendar Waxbill
Give them a tube nest attach it to the top of the cage and lots and lots of long coco fiber. I cut the long strands in half and let them go to work, they built quickly and huge!
Good luck on yours!!!

Re: Lavendar Waxbill
Cindy, I gave them a big oval shaped one.
Will that work or should I keep looking for a tubular?

Re: Lavendar Waxbill
Thanks Cindy,
I put in timothy hay inside the basket and they like that!
Also some hemp fiber that I use for canaries and goldfinches.
The hen has been carrying that into the basket.
Actually both have been going in and out!
Fingers crossed!

Re: Lavendar Waxbill
I tried your suggestion of Timothy hay for my lavenders when I ran out of coco fiber. I coulldn't bring myself to pay for shipping when we have a Bird Mart in two weeks. So far, everyone in the flight are interested in eating/pecking at the Timothy hay, but the lavenders are still pulling coco fiber from other nests. LOL.

Re: Lavendar Waxbill
I have always liked Timothy hay.
My canaries have always liked it.
Also it gives a nice smell, and is quite absorbent
Cocoanut fiber is very hard to locate here in Calgary.

Re: Lavendar Waxbill
Are you allowed to have it (coco fiber) shipped in?

I have seen it with hamster toys.
But never enough to use for nesting material?
