Nun & Strawberry Question

Post by flrancho » Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:24 pm

I think I may want either some Nuns or Strawberries in the future. Several years ago I had a Black-Hooded Nun but I think I've only seen Nuns once since. I never kept Strawberries, but used to see them all the time and I haven't seen them in years now.

About how hard is it to come across these species now?

Also, what kind of price would I be looking at for a pair of Strawberries and a pair of Nuns? Variety of Nun doesn't matter to me, I would take black hooded, white hooded or tri-color. Is there a definite price difference in the color varieties usually?

My final question would be with Strawberries.... I know they're very small, but the finch info site says the can be kept in a mixed flight with other peaceful birds. I currently have a pair of Java Sparrows, I'm guessing those are too big to house Strawberries with?

I don't have any experience with Nuns, but I do have strawberry finches. I think alot depends on how much room and space you are going to be giving them.
My strawberry finches are very peaceful and so tiny and sweet. I just adore their personalities. As far as Java finches I have never had them either, but from what I have heard and read I don't think I would ever put them in with my strawberry finches.
Strawberry finches are VERY hard to come by now, but good luck in finding a pair. I am sure they are out there somewhere if your willing to pay. I don't think you would find a pair for much less than 250.00.
