Nice pics, amazing that the canary has brought so much joy to our lives with it's singing...but has actually saved countless lives by sacrificing his own. [-o<

Love the shop...that shop lady could be me in a different time at her Cage Bird Menagerie

I tried to enlarge the picture but couldn't. Could you post a link to the sorce so I can possible enlarge it and print it. I would love to frame it and hang it in my office here at the shop. Thanks!

Great pictures of historic times!

It's just sad that canaries were kept in very tiny cages in the homes as well. You can actually see that now still in some countries, where they hang canary cages on the windows, and they are about the size that I would only use as a transport cage. And of course the males are kept alone so they sing better... That's kind of sad... :?
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

So true,I often see small cages that are only suitable for travel/transport being advertised and sold as canary/budgie cage's, always want to strangle the seller for being irresponsible about them and only caring about the money not the birds
To many pets to list :)

Kenny, Candace:

I found a website with that photo using the search terms "bird retailer brick lane london" but it looks like it is copyrighted. They list a phone number to contact. Maybe you can still purchase a print from them Candace. Might be pricey tho.

The use for 2 years to just hang in my store would cost $ 435.00  I guess it is for computer image only and not for printing???? I mean after you print nit how would they get it back after 2 years? come in and take it off the wall?????? There is a local artist here that does really nice renditions for a reasonable price...Maybe I will have it sketched......
Anyway thanks Kenney.

Deborah...you are a better serch engine than I ... the little engine that could, you are  Thanks so much for finding a larger image for me to look at :D

Kenny & Candace....I couldn't have done it without Kenny's help. He provied the "Brick Lane London" info and I searched on from there. So it was an international joint effort of the United "Feathered" Nations. =D>

Too bad they want so much...gee wiz!

Check out this photograph, also by John Galt. The lady's store wasn't the only one! Holy moly, so many birds!!!

http://www.museumoflondonprints.com/ima ... eet-c-1902

They have "your" picture too, and they sell framed and unframed prints. http://www.museumoflondonprints.com/ima ... eet-c-1900
Click on "buy a print" and you can select the size and framed or unframed... Looks affordable to me. (I didn't check out the shipping costs though.) I think it would look lovely in your store! :-)
