Nystatin

I have a swee with balancing problems, and it was suggested that I try calcium (no effect), Ronivet and Nystatin to try to treat possible causes. Anybody here use Nystatin, and if so, is there a way to administer without crop dosing? (Really don't want to try that if possible.) I did read an article where the author added it to water, but it wasn't clear what the dosage would be. I'm also wondering if it's safe to give to all of the birds in the cage (4 swees total)? If it's fungal, I would think that all would be affected to some extent.

I've mixed Nystatin in the water (the powder I had was specifically meant to be used that way). Not all my birds could take it, though--one got very bad poisoning symptoms (massive excessive drinking and extremely watery diarrhea). He recovered quickly from that once I removed Nystatin.

The rest of the birds I was treating benefited from the Nystatin in the water.

Eek! Thanks! I found somebody who has administered it orally without crop dosing with good results. She told me 2 grams Nystatin to 8ml of water, then administer .02cc twice a day. I started my hen on that yesterday, so we'll see. I'm watching her carefully for your poisoning symptoms, though - thanks for the warning.
