Sidney and Oz had their first clutch of 3 and they are fledged and on their own. I saw the parents mating again so I moved them to a smaller flight cage by themselves. Checked today and found 2 eggs....

I hope they have a bigger clutch this time. They are such good parents very attentive to their young.

They are very hard to find around here. Not even the pet stores carry them.

congratulations on the successful clutches lol, try not to be over excited though because you never know what happens. my gouldians laid 10 eggs and all 10 were empty so i learned a harsh lesson in patience

Something happened since this morning I checked again to see if there were any more eggs and saw only 3 eggs now. There is no sign in the nest of the 4th egg and no sign on the cage floor..... ????? Would they break an egg and eat it? Very discouraged...

Sorry about losing one of the eggs, but my owls do that sometimes. Last clutch they laid six eggs and then later I only saw five. When I cleaned the cage after the clutch/nesting was done, I found part of an eggshell underneath the grate. So, I guess they may eat them if they're not fertile or something ?

Yes finches will eat eggs if they are infertile but also if one happens to break they will eat it too. My birds change the amount of eggs in the nest on a daily bases lol. I'm used to it.

That's good to know. They are in and out of the nest many times during the day. Thanks
