Quick Action nets new pair of Gouldians

Post by ranchnanny » Wed Nov 23, 2011 2:16 pm

Yesterday I checked Craigslist as I do every morning.... nothing of interest so I went about my chores but a while later in the morning I sat down to read some new post on this forum and checked Craigslist again !! Wow! new ad for a pair of Gouldians with cage, food etc...... FOR $50 well I quickly responded by email then realized there was a phone # to call Holy Cow Sherry what are you doing by e-mailing they will be gone before you know it..

I called and they were still there "I will take them" I will be in Bend by 2:00 and bringing cash.....

They are beautiful birds.... the male is fully colored out RHPBGB and the hen is still in molt but almost done looks like BHLBGB.

The cage is a small flight cage that appears to be constructed from different parts from several cages...the doors are small and I had a hard time getting my seed hopper to fit.

I tried to get photos of these two but they are really flitting around and won't sit still. These are the best I could get....

Yes its a bit odd looking but they can stay in there for a while. I have another 36 in flight cage I will put them in. Until I get 2 more hens for my 2 males I have to keep them in a cage by themselves. I am really excited....

Great catch. :D

Yes if there is a phone number, that is the fastest way to get hold of the seller.
There is a reason they put the phone number in the ad.

I got my firefinches that way. I called the seller as soon as I could. Turned out she was moving so she was not on her computer very much, so any emails/messages would not be read in time.

I thought that was the case when I first saw her. I am going to have to remove part of the roof of this cage to get a nest in there.
I would love to have Gouldian babies...... the thought makes me nervous. #-o

Found another goodie on Craigslist this morning at 7:30 2 Gouldian pairs for $75 per pair. I am picking up on monday a RHPBGB male and a YHPBGB hen. He is bring along the other pair for me to look at a BHPBGB hen and a RHPBGB male. I really want the pair with the yellow head hen. He also has a male with no feathers on his head that he is giving away. He has tried everything to help this male but it does not seem to help. I would be afraid to take him though.

So Monday I going to Bend to take a look at the Gouldians.
