Cinnamon is now what they refer to as fawn...does she have a very buff underside or belly? She does not carry the gene but can be visually fawn, females can not be split to fawn. Only the males can carry the gene, they will either be split (hidden gene) or be visual.

To produce a fawn female the father has to be split to or visually fawn. To get males and females that are visually fawn both parents have to be fawn or the mother can be fawn and the dad split to fawn.

this is a write up of fawn....
http://www.efinch.com/species/fawnzeb.htm it is a sex linked gene only the males carry.

Are you talkin about Fawn when you say "cinnamon"?
Well females cannot be split to fawn.
I was thinking if she was split for CFW
but females cannot be split for it...
maybe she is split for penguin..
Maybe she is just like that.
The normal grey color can be different,
can be light or very dark..

here is one of my cute little chicks.
he is fawn split for pied

so what color is she?? what could she be split to and such? i thought cinnamon was just a lighter version of grey, that is how it is in cockateils at least
what do the white edged feathers mean? why does she have brown splotches on her wings??? heheh i feel so stupid!

A split to penguin would appear to look normal. If she was a penguin female most females fledge with gray cheek patches or white gray cheek patches. Males look like normal chicks when fledged. To me personally, she looks lik a normal hen. The tail is not frosted so it is not a penguin. The white in her feathers could be due to something lacking in her diet. Her feathers once molted will give a better picture.

I think she might be a lightback

i would be put down if she was just a normal.
how common is the lightback? i think it said that it cannot be split in females -_-
they get cuttle bone, kale, pellets as well as seeds. what could be lacking?

She is normal grey,
and I already told you in the post above,
when I was guessing why she has
white edges, and I think she is just like that.
Nothing abnormal about it.
Just a pretty little finch :)
Its really hard to tell what she is split to.
I can only guess.
There are no obvious signs about any mutations
on her.
The only I can think of is the penguin mutation.
The birds get this white edges on their wings.
But nobody knows how to ID birds split for Penguin, so... :)
And she is not Lightback.
And she can not be split to lightback.

Maybe..
you can always expect to get
something from a zebra finch.
Even though she is normal grey
she could be split for something

Box of chocloates!!! No telling what you will get!!

Is she one of the offsprings to a pair you own or is sh an adult you purchased?

If she is an offspring and you have her parents, what are they? That would help if we knew her background.

well thanks for the help guys! i doubt any hidden genetics on any of their parts. My last clutch with my last female and the same male were normals so that is what i think will happen this time. anyway if i get some bright males i will be happy at least!
