She seems to be very puffy and sleepy today. She's still perching, and she ate (nice full crop). I put the heat on her again just in case, but she just seems to want to sleep.

I'll keep you updated.

She passed away. I just returned home to find her on the bottom of the hospital cage. Not sure what happened but its not unexpected. I guess her fight just ran out :(

In a couple months, as soon as he molts out, Jaws...the only remaining gouldian juvenile...will be going to a new home with either Clyde or Bonnie, and I'll be getting a RHWBBB to pair up with the remaining parent, and we'll try this breeding thing again. Hopefully with far better results. In the mean time, there will be a clutch of Bourkes in June that I'll hopefully be bragging about.

That is too bad...I thought she was going to make it after all the trouble she had. :(

So did I. After everything she went through and toughed out it was clear she really wanted to live. I'm still not sure what went wrong. She seemed to be clearing up from the bacterial infection and doing better but then crashed really fast.

Well, its all a learning experience. Let's hope I've gotten all my tragedies out of the way with this first clutch and things will be better for the next.

So sorry she didn't make it--you both tried so hard. With finches, unfortunately, it is always both successes and failures.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear she passed away. You both gave it a good fight, though.

I planted some bird seed. A bird came up. Now I don't know what to feed it.

I just read this whole thread and went through an emotional roller coaster while I read it. I was sad to hear she was having problems, then I got so happy for you when I read she'd been doing well, and then I got to page 2 and saw she passed away... I'm very sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did everything you could have to help her.
