New little BC CCFW zebra fledgling
I finally was able to set up a second pair of BC CCFWs. They are very sweet birds, so sweet that that surprised me with little ones. I try really hard not to disturb my birds when nesting but they did not seem like they were consistantly sitting or tending to young. Never heard begging at all. I am hoping there is more than one baby, I think there might be.
I went in to touch up food dishes and was a little surprised to see a small, adorable fledgling on the bottom. The parents must have been tending to the young more than they let on. My BC are like this also, you barely hear the young beg.
Here are some pictures of the little one and of mom and dad...both are snow white.

Can't resist..one more baby picture...
The babies come out with cheeks and a dusty blac flecking on their heads, eventually they molt and turn white as snow like mom and dad. I have 6 siblings from my first pair, 3 girls and 3 boys.

Dante, I had to put my first pair back to nest, she was plucking her chest...I alread have 6 young from there last clutch that fledged about 5 months ago. I can try sending you a few eggs to foster. Not sure thay will survive the cold during mailing but we can try.

Cindy, that would be amazing!!! We have to go over details. AndI can always send you eggs to swap. Just need to get them to breed! Maybe I can send you some OB eggs once I get a pair. Or of my uncle gets another pair. Also, yes she looks just like your hen.

Re: New little BC CCFW zebra fledgling
What happens when you pair BC and BC CCFW is the young are either BC or BC CCFW. It is odd, they are either the gray w/black cheeks or white with black cheeks. The mom in the pictures had a BC mom and a BC CCFW dad. You can have some of each color mutation in a clutch. I did this twice, the first time they had white with black cheeks, the second time they had 1 white and two gray black cheek. You would think that is would come out pied but it did not.
The offspring from the pairing if gray are a little lighter, barely noticeable but not silver and the stomachs are a whiter cleaner look not buff like the normal BCs.
I will pm you tomorrow as to the details.

Re: New little BC CCFW zebra fledgling
Actaully I went back into my records
I paired a visually BC CCFW female to a visual BC male....they had one chick a visual BCCCFW .....female all snow white black cheeks
second pair a visual BC CCFW male as in my picture above paired with a visual BC female. Bred them twice got a mixed clutch each time of visual BC and visual BCCCFW. When I say visual means you see the mutation look completely and the bird is not split to it an showing markers for the mutation, though split may work but might take longer to get the desired effects.
I will post the effects of breeding the BCCCFW to BC , the pictures show a soft difference in the body color of the offspring of the combination that are visual BC/BCCCFW
