I think Im going to find new homes for them

The male is mounting her 24/7. I need to have them seperated in with a new mate, or even get the female in a home with another female.
I dont have another cage, to seperate them for the time being. And they really arent a species I want again.

My god, I forgot how little zebras were always on alert..like little guard dogs or something.

As soon as you walk into the room, you hear "beep BEEP beep" If the sound on the tv goes loud they go "beep BEEP beep"
If you laugh they go "BEEP beep beep" Seems like anything you do with a sound sets them off

Its annoying but kind of funny at the same time. I havent had any luck so far finding them a new home.
Unfortunately, Zebras have become alot like societies...NO ONE wants them. They are very easy to find, and breed like bunny rabbits...*sigh*

that is what i love about zebras haha all that beeping!!!!
I used to sit down and meep at them for like an hour strait because they ALWAYS replied!!! i still do that every so often hehe

I hope you can get them new mates or seperated.

Thanks. Well Im not going to be looking for new mates for them, because I am trying to find them a new home.
Like I said I have had zebras before, and they just are not the bird I want again.

I went and picked them up because I had no idea what species I was going to look at, since the lady had no idea what they were, even after owning them for 4 yrs.
I felt I had to take them at the time. So I did.

Their sound is quite loud compaired to my other finches. I also have parrotlets (who are in nesting mode) on the same floor as the zebras and GS. And my gouldians on the top floor. So you can imagine the noise level it can get to.

These little zebras dont seem to know or care when its their bedtime and will sound off whenever they want lol. And they do get quite loud!
Im getting a bit worried about finding them a new home, because I want them to be housed seperately to prevent the male from mating with the female (since they are siblings) No one seems to be interested. Or maybe the people looking dont have other finches to pair them with. I dont know...

In my city its difficult to sell zebras/societies...because like I said they breed like bunny rabbits or mice, are easy to come by, and there for cheap. No one is really interested in them. They want the more exotic finches

if i were in the correct situation, and had an extra flight cage and did not have babies i would snatch them up right away. sadly you are in canada and i don't have another cage

i also have three baby zebbies that are just getting their feathers that i have to find a home for.

They really are beautiful though

Until then, a good way to prevent eggs hatched is to get a seed feeder rather then a bowl of seeds and a cage with bars at the bottom. No nests to sleep in, only perches. and make sure the water is always filled(if the bowl was ever empty even for a day my female would lay an egg in it LOL

cover them up during the day except for a few hours so they think it is winter.

The finches may not have any type of schedule. I recommend turning on/off cage light or room lights at a specific times of the day...say lights on at 7am lights off at 8am. Covering all but a few hours during the day will not solve the problem, they do not know the difference in the seasons. They need to have at least 9 to 10 hours of day light. If you cover them all but a few hours a day it will interfer with feedings, they will sleep during the day and stay up at night due to needing to eat, exercise, drink. The best thing you can do is establish a schedule. They may be loud right now due to good foods and conditions you are offering them, get them on a schedule, darken the room at night leaving only a small night light on near them but not bright enough for them to think it is still dawn or dusk.

Zebras do breed often but if you do not want eggs and use open seed cups you can toss the eggs....you can offer them a feeder but also until they get use to using it keep the cups in the cage.

My zebras are in a large breeding room, when the lights come on they all start singing, lights out they are in their roosting areas and are quiet.

Hey! I love my societies and zebras! I got a new fawn and a crested today.

But they are cfw for sure. And it is true
, not many want societies or zebras, they're so easy to get.

Im having the WORST time trying to find them a new home. NO ONE wants them. This was a mistake, I think in taking them

You did a good thing taking them in, If you have a sunny warm room to put them in with a door it will help keep the noise down in your home. Give it time, perhaps advertise on a bulletin board at your vet's office.

Well Im having no such luck in rehoming them! The one person that emailed me asked if they were still available. I told them they were...and that was it. NO response or anythign. *sigh*

Good thing I dont breed zebras anymore, becuase I would have ended up with tons of babies and no chance of selling!

Aren't the two siblings? If so who ever takes them needs to now not to breed them.
