Gouldians growing up

Post by finchandlovebird » Wed Jan 18, 2012 10:56 am

I've really been getting a kick out of my 4 fledglings "learning the ropes" from their parents. They fledged 12/29. The 6 birds do everything kind of as a "gang". All of them eating at one millet spray. All of them at the food dish on the floor. The parents seem to be very good teachers. Little guys observe everything the parents do. Mom was drinking at the Lixit waterer this a.m. & little guy right next to her was watching. In the beginning I put a plastic plate on the floor for food; then I switched to paper plates. The little ones play with the paper plates, dumping all the food off. I think they think they are frisbees. [-X Went back to the plastic plate. At first they were on one side of my double wide. Now I moved the 4 who were on the other side into their own cage & opened up the flight to 60" for this family. Oh, watching them fly is fun =D> They still all sleep on their original side  ; it's funny how habitual they are. Going onto the "new" side is such an adventure for them.
