Calcium Plus and Cocci-Care?
I just purchased these 2 items because they were a really good price. I normally don't treat with a lot of supplements and medicines. I try and give a daily, well-rounded diet.
That said, what are your thoughts on these 2 items?

Re: Calcium Plus and Cocci-Care?
I use Calcium Plus in the drinking water when my hens are laying eggs. It is excellent for the added calcium and has D3 in it as well. I also use a drop of it directly to a hen's beak if she become eggbound. It's been a life-saver for a few of my hens.
I have not used Cocci-Care.

Re: Calcium Plus and Cocci-Care?
I have both....I use Calcium Plus as Liz does. The Cocci-careI keep on hand for any birds I get from questionable environments or from an outside aviary while in quarantine, Florida gets preety damp and humid. I would like to use Baycox instead but I have to wait until my husband has a business trip out of town for more than a week. I only used it one time for the entire flock in 3 plus yrs. as a yearly treatment.

Cindy, why do you have to wait till your husband is on a business trip out of town for a week??? Is he allergic to the fumes of the med or something?

I hear it smells like rotten lettuce....we have central air and it is pretty warm right now. I am not sure he would appreciate coming home after work and smelling it!!!

The product I got from Foy's is really stinky and Misty also agreed the product was stinky for her too.
I think it's just the med itself that has an odor and if you have a huge flock to where you've got 10+ waterers filled with it, it makes the air smell a bit like the med.
If it's just one cage/waterer that you're using I don't think you'd notice the smell. You'd only notice it if you smelled it directly from the bottle.

Re: Calcium Plus and Cocci-Care?
I got my Baycox from the place that Tiffany recommended to me.
As Tiffany said, it smells when I open the bottle, but after I mix/dilute it into the water for the birds, I don't smell it. You could mix it outside, then bring it into the house.
I treat ALL incoming birds with Baycox as part of my quarantine process. I can't afford to have a bug in my flock. I just lost 3 gouldians to an unknown cause, and that $$$ hurt.
I give Calcium Plus only to breeding pairs. And I give it at half the recommended dosage, so I don't overdose. They also have egg shell in a dish.
Non-breeding birds get egg shell in a small dish.

Yes, I ordered from ladygouldianfinch.com
the bottle I have looks a little different than the one on the site.
I just opened it up, shook it, and took a big sniff and still don't smell anything.
Maybe this is a new version?

Re: Calcium Plus and Cocci-Care?
Dunno, I would have to take a look at mine to see what the percentages are for the medication.
I would assume it's the same but I got mine from a different manufacturer.
