PetSmart Aviary

Post by waxbill lover » Fri Jan 27, 2012 7:56 pm

Hey all,

So I have a chance to buy one of the huge front glass aviaries that PetSmart used to have in the center of their stores. (with the little room inside, where they had access to all the little critters) Its a half octogon shape, with the door in the back. It has the recessed lighting inside, and plenty of room for the birds to roam around, plus it has an easy to clean lino floor in it. Its probably 8 feet tall, 7 feet wide, and 5 feet deep. The person who has it is asking $500 for it. What do you all think, good deal? I think it sounds pretty darn snazzy for that price. Only kicker is, it has to be taken apart to transport it, and then re-assemle it when it gets to my house... with no instructions.. It would look AWESOME in my bird room, and also would cut down on the mess the birds make...

I wish I had a picture of it, but if you've ever been to petsmart, I think you'll all know the big aviary I'm talking about.

Thoughts?

I've seen them at PetSmart. Sounds like a really lucky deal, and $500 for the whole thing would see reasonable. Lucky you. =D>

I'm sure it costs a lot more for petco then 500$!! GREAT DEAL!! just make sure to wash it really good, don't want your birds to catch any diseases!

I say go for it! Somebody around here has one, it's like 7 ft by 4 ft or something like that, it was from a closed petstore and looked really nice, all glass! They wanted 200 for it

You know what would be neat is if you could take the divider walls down and make one long avairy.

Yeah, this is just the "end cap" aviary to that giant enclosure PetSmart used to have in the middle of their stores with all the little critters in it. But Cindy, that would be an awesome idea!

Like the one they keep the budgies in? (if your petsmart is similiar to mine) That is a large cage!!! And Cindy, I would love to buy that entire module if they sold it.

Sounds like a great deal at $500. Why does it have to be taken apart to transport? Find someone (friend, neighbour or relative) with a van or better yet, a pick up truck. Have fun with your new aviary!

Liz,

The enclosure has to be taken apart #1, because it won't fit into a house through a regular door (And I live in a condo... ) and #2 it has large glass components that would surely crack if the whole thing was riding in the back of a pickup truck. I do have a truck, so I'll just go down and pick it up myself...the current owner will be there to take it apart, so I can see how it goes back together!... just gotta save up some pennies first!!!
