Strawberry babies molting or something else?

Post by Jodi » Sat Jan 28, 2012 12:30 am

My strawberry babies fledged late October. Beaks turned red this past week. But their feathers look scruffy. Feathers were nice and smooth a week ago. Since these are my first berry babies, I need to know if this is a molt or maybe something else. They are not scratching, and eating like little piggies. The photo of this one (Cricket) has been singing up a storm, so I think they're fine. I've only seen a few feathers on the bottom of their cage and on the floor.

Hopefully you can see the images okay. I'm technically challenged . I can't figure out how to make the images bigger... ugh.

 no problem, I don't have experience with this species but it looks the same as a gouldian molt so I think I'm right

They look like they are molting to me also. You could pm Sally, she has strawberries, she could give you some advice on them. Congratulations on the young!
