I have never seen nothing but sweetness from these birds. At the most, I have seen a male chase away another male that landed on a branch too close to his nest. Too close being about a foot. I have not found them to be highly territorial but I do keep them in same species large aviaries. They form a very tight flock amongst themselves. All eating toogether, bathing together, etc. For instance, if one decides to bathe...they all decide to bathe. Pairs will loosely seperate to breed but join right back into the flock once the chicks fledge.

I have had issues with GB raiding owl nest and just gave each species their own flight cage...the get along great with their own kind as long as there are plenty of nests to sleep in and plants to roost in.

I had one little male that could get through the bars (until I put the mesh on the cage)...I would walk into the room and he would be sitting on one of the cages visiting everyone!! The first time he got out he landed on the shaft tail flight, I could not figure out why all the shaft tails were lined up on the branch, all leaning and looking up....then I saw him, a flash of gold and red!!! They are bullets with great speed...I think he rather enjoyed getting out and flying around!! Catching him was a challenge with high ceilings and curtain rods!

hes alot more active today, jumping from perch to perch. Its so cute, he actually sits in his food dish when hes eating, cause hes so small. I just see his little head poking up as hes munching on his seed

Hes exploring the cage, and has jumped in the little nest I put in. Hes so cute and tiny! Im in love with him already.

I got the female GBW today :D

Here she is with the little male.Sorry its a little blurry they are so hard to get a picture of!

I just noticed how ratty looking the poor male looks. He must have been so stressed out with those other finches pecking his feathers off his head! I got some feather fast how can I give this to him? Can I put it in the water since its in powdered form? Says soft foods etc, but he is a pretty picky eater from what I can tell so far.

Get them on a quality fresh seed. A dried egg food with grated boiled egg, sprouted seed, and green leafy veggie. I have never used feather fast so can't help you with that, but if you fed greens, sprouts or eggfood you could sprinkle it on those. He should grow his feathers back soon in his new home... then he will impress his lady friend :D

Thx Dante

Candace, yes I have been trying with the fresh/dry egg food and greens, all he does it pick at it and toss it out of the cage in search of seeds! lol I wont give up though, I will keep trying. Cant wait till his feathers on the back of his head are filled in...hes looking a little like an old man atm ;)

WOW, nice job, you have got yourself a very beautiful pair. these birds are so tiny but still so charming and endearing for their size. these are on my wish-list for sure....i would love to see eggs and babies in real life to see how small they are

Thanks Talal :)

I moved them into the flight with the GS. Heres the link on that http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18430

The GBWs have been mating, and been in the nest quite a bit for the last few days. Heres hoping for some little GBWs in the near future! Im sure they will be super small
