Candace
How do you tell a LILAC from a light purple?
I "think" I have a LB, because his breast is lighter than his brother.
Unfortunately his sister which had an even lighter breast died. And there I was even more confused LB or light PB.

Gary,
Sometimes in the lighter backed birds it can be hard to tell a washed out purple from a lilac if you don't know the backgrounds. Though a well bred purple and a well bred lilac can be determined in a glance. (In person anyway, flash on cameras can make it hard to capture the color accurately)
Sometimes the birds can get a dirty white breast that looks like a light pink but this color will turn to white with the next molt.
Here is a hen that looks like a rose/lilac breast but she is genetically a white breast and will molt to show it is indeed a WB.

With my RH fellow I bred birds that had lilac breast and white breast so I know his genetic lineage... he is actually 4 years in the making. I have produced yellow heads and black heads , and lilacs in all the green backs but this mutation just seemed to elude me. Now to get busy with lilac breasted blues...my goal for next year :D

Thanks everyone, I am very pleased with this boy and he has reserve his spot as a spring breeding stud in my aviary :D

He is beautiful! You must be thrilled! :)

I have a hard time deciding what I like more.. the RH or OH lilac yellows, and then I saw my first BH LB Yellow and the =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ started all over again.

It's so hard to pick a favorite :)
