Here we go again. What color is lux?

Post by LuxandLolita » Fri Feb 03, 2012 10:51 pm

So here we go again, i have been told multiple different things about Lux. His wings look fawn, he has oval shaped spots instead of circles, ect ect. Here are a ton of pictures of him. the flash makes him look a darker grey then he actually is though, so please don't mind some of the darker grey pictures.
Lux-i posted these pics on the chick mutation thread though also
This picture is closer to his actual color, he is a little bit more grey but not as grey as the flash pictures

This is with a regular light on him. these are the closest pics i can get of his real color :)

This is a really dark picture but shows his ovals well

This is in reg light-he is lighter then this though. goodness, why can't i capture his color right? oh well Image

As I stated in one of your earlier posts...he is split to fawn.

See the section under Identifying splits...

http://www.efinch.com/species/fawnzeb.htm

you will traces of buff in the belly and brown in the wings.

He is a normal split to fawn, he may have other hidden genes but visually he is a NG/fawn.

I was mostly talking about the half brown half white feathers on his inner wing :) does that mean split to fawn? I am just confused is all, please don't get mad at me for asking again. i just would like a wider opinion along with yours(which i already believe is correct) and i am not saying that you got mad if you didn't!! goodness sometimes i come off wrong :p

the outside of the wings in the pictures of you holding him, 3rd picture down....the wings are tinted brown, his head and neck gray...this is a split. Not mad at all...go back to your other post on him...I believe I broke it down for you in regards to what the offspring can be. The fawn female offspring may not show up in every clutch if he is paired with a normal gray.

I am so glad that i have more then normals. this world of zebras is so confusing yet amazing! None of the chicks seem to have these beautiful wing feathers but maybe when they color in they will? waiting game... oh the waiting game

If fawn hens were produced they would fledge fawn, have horned colored beaks. I had a split fawn male but he died. Brown in the wings can be a sign of normal thouh, mg male had a grey head and brown wings like your Lux so I think hw is split fawn. The oval flanks look normal, all zebras vary. They don't resemble my BB's flanks

Your bird is definately a split to fawn, not BB if it were BB then the spots on the flanks could be enlarged, elongated or streaks. The fact he does not have the marker in the tail feather (the hour glass shape to ID a split) he is not split to BB.

Below the hourglass feather, this indicates a split to BB
