patience...we have all been there.
The sites by efinch and Garrie Landry give descriptions not definitions...they tell you exactly what to look for in the actual visual mutation and splits.

Yes they are very cute
And they do have different types of tear marks, but if that means anything is hard to know.
And like with the rest of it you have to wait until they have molted (should be through around 7-8 weeks old).
The tear marks the tails, everything might chance, or not, with a molt.
So calm down for now, enjoy your brids and take new pictures of them when they are closer to 2 months old ;)
Then we will see if they are visually normal or if they visually show something else.
But like me and Cindy have been saying, around 80% of the mutations cannot be confirmed until you breed the bird.
The thing about zebras is that they hide mutations very well, you can maybe see that a bird is split with
pied, ob, bb, bc. But that leaves a lot of mutation that one has no idea if a bird is split for or not, unless you have
family history.
I once got an isabel from a normal and lb. I had no idea that they carried this mutation.
But they were also a birds I had not bred together before, though I had bred themfew times before
with other birds but not gotten isabels from there. So that was just pure luck.
If you are planning to add more finched to your flock, then you should maybe just look around and see what breeders
are around you and simply buy some pretty mutation or a pair of the same kind

Aviaries can be hard to control breeding, plus zebra pairs should be housed seperatly. But good luck on an orange bird! If you are referring to a bird like Elma's (Vargur's) Almos, you will need OB BF BB, they are very hard to get and hard to get all the combinations needed. Cindy is even having trouble accomplishing this.

Actually, I have all the makings for BB. I have FF and FF. I am working towards Phaeo, a slow process but it will be worth it. I really have not been looking for new mutations...I go to shows and if I see something that interests me, I pick it up and then go from there with combinations with other mutations.

Cindy, what do you combine to create a bb or a bf???? And all I need is a BF and I can breed to get a OB BB BF, and then I want to breed that to a FF

Re: Last time, what mutation?(17 pics) BB??
i know! i am going for the challange! i am going(when i have the money, and materials to build an aviary) I am going to buy a BBBFOB Male and a BB female. only in that order because males show more coloring, it will be easier. But i really want to go for the odd mutations. not the very common ones like BC, Fawn, White ect. and i am really fond of albinos but those are not common at all. i have an albino ferret and that is the best i got haha
and her name is Tubesock!
-off topic-
I would really like to create a new mutation eventually where it is a zebra finch that looks like a robin-orange breasted with black wings and black cheeks and black face! but i have a LOT to learn until i can get to that whole process!!!

Okay, well good luck!!! Also, you may have to breed your own OB BB BF, they are very hard to find

Dante...you can't create a mutation from birds that do not carry the gene. You would mate 2 birds that are split for the gene
if you had 2 birds NG both split to BB
you get some splits and some BB
50% Normal/Black breasted
25% Normal
25% Black breasted
