Red Headed Parrot Finches Breeding!!
http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18360
As per my other thread, I mentioned my red heads as I call them, were doing the deed this morning!
The male was treading the hen and she was making a begging chick noise, like begging for food!
I am so glad now that I didn't sell them!
Also the male brought the hen a meal worm to eat! How cuter as that?
Fingers crossed!
Jerry

Re: Red Headed Parrot Finches Breeding!!
Thanks
guys!
More good news!
The green singers hatched a baby today!
Also my Waterslager hens are calling to the boys like crazy!
But I don't think either of the boys are quite ready yet?
I may put one in with the hens and see what happens?
Fingers crossed!

Females are so fickle!
They call the boys and tease!
I put one of the boys in with the hens,
and he went crazy, he was ready, but the girls wer coy!
Try in a week again!

Well, nothing happening again!
The hen is molting!
First the male molted and now he looks great!
Now the hen and she looks a fright!
Will these two ever get their act together?
I might just sell them!
They are driving me nuts!

Re: Red Headed Parrot Finches Breeding!!
Jerry, I wish you luck on the RHFinches. Watch for any signs of eggbinding. Both John and I had issues with it with both our hens. I would keep a heat lamp near her perch just in case she neest to go to it.
I also found a little wheat germ oil mixed in a small amount of seed helped in getting the eggs to pass easier.
