Leander the Canary and his Society Finch buddies

Post by skythrutrees » Fri Mar 21, 2008 1:00 pm

I let Leander, my canary, out for the first time today, and after some hesitant time on the floor, and some panicked time trying to figure out how fly home, he's fine.

But for some reason he's decided that finch cage is the cool place to hang out. He's been sampling the food, trying the perches, the staring at the little societies like he just can't decide what they are made of.

Honestly, I thought canaries didn't like other birds, and liked to be alone.

Poor little goober brain.

and get this...he doesn't want to leave!!!

He spent last night in the finch cage because I didn't feel like chasing him out to get to his own, and I've had the finch cage open all morning and Leander just won't leave.

Granted, it's a much bigger cage, but at night he's sharing it with 9 finches and 2 button quail.

But the finches out are really fun...they move as group, descending on the parakeet finch and eating there, moving to leander's cage to eat there, , and back to their own.

We just had a snowstorm, but with all the birds, I feel like I live in a forest.

I just need some rabbit and deer to make the picture complete....
