aviary outside
I just got some new zebra finches and i live on the pan handle. i wanted to know if it was safe enough to keep the zebras outside in a aviary when it was cold. i know it can get pretty cold here in pensacola and didnt know the range of temperature that they could live in.

what is the coldest your finches have been out side. my cage is almost finished. i think i will be done with it tomorrow. i just need to get a tarp and some form of heat. you use a lamp. does that give off enough heat if it gets to cold? yeseterday abnd today was very cold out, but tomorrow and the rest of the week is only suppose to get donw to 60 degrees.

My finches have been in same gage for at least 3years outside like I said when its going to get cold I always leave a light on and cover the aviary I would like to find some of the red lights,I think they would like the red its not as bright.
When I check on them before going to bed there allways setting in front of light on branches I put the light so they can set as close or as far as they choose Bcamp

heat lamps for outdoors
my cage outside is 5' long 3' tall 3' wide. should i put a heat lamp on either side? and will it melt the tarp that would be covering the back part of the lamps? And what is this ppl are talking bout redlight. Would that just be a heat lamp with a red bulb? Also how many watts should they be. i need mine for the cold nights outside.

I just use one of the metal clamp on lights with 75 watt bulb, one end of mine has lots of branches on one end so they can move closer or farther away from the heat .
I use a brown tarp and just have the light hanging on front of cage wire then the tarp covers it up I wached to make sure it didnt get to hot to start a fire bcamp

yeah it doesnt get that cold here i dont think. i think only down to the 30'. i live on the panhandle. i always imagined florida to be hot all year round, but i thought wrong
i wanted to get what everyone is talking bout, the red light that can be used 24 hours. that would be good to use during the winter time. im still worried bout that time of year. dont know if i want to bri8ng them in or just try the heat lamps.
