Jaws is already molting

Post by Ravyn » Wed Mar 26, 2008 1:50 pm

I was a bit surprised, I figured it'd be another couple months before he started his molt but apparently he's raring to go. A couple days ago I saw a blue feather among the green on his head. This morning he had another blue feather, a pair of yellow feathers on his belly, and some blue on his tail.

He's on Feather Fast with the others because Bonnie has started her molt. I haven't seen a single sign of any pin feathers on him, just the sudden appeareance of colored feathers. So apparently, its working!

Congrats! Fresh eggfood also helps them switch to adult feathers. You probably won't see that many pin feathers - just a lot of feathers on the floor!

ROFL

I should probably get some.

He's so funny. He's getting all his yellow in but none of his purple. He's getting black on his face but ONLY where the black outline would be on a redhead gouldian, so I still can't tell if he's a blackface or a redhead. The green on his wings is going away for...green on his wings (slightly different shade ROFL), and he's getting in a lot of blue on his rump.

On another note, Baby has discovered his voice and loves to sing. So he's definately a boy. His song is also different than his Daddy's song which I think is kind of cute :) He gets so proud of himself when he sings, too.

I tried but couldn't get any decent pics. I'll try again as soon as I get a chance. Jaws is starting to look like a patchwork quilt!

Also, I am now about 80% sure that he...is a she! Yup, looks like Jaws is a hen. Her yellow on her stomach seems diluted and she's finally starting to get some purple in on her chest, which matches the lavender of her mother, nowhere NEAR the dark purple of her father. It also looks like she's a blackface (though its still mostly guessing on my part as beyond a goatee, she has very few new feathers on her face) so that means Clyde is a single factor redhead.

No pics yet, she won't hold still!

No, it was Baby, the society, that was singing. Jaws is definately a female. She's got almost all her chest and stomach color in and her head and back are still coloring up. She's also officially a redhead...so I still don't know if Clyde is a single factor or not. Other than the red she's colored exactly like Bonnie.

The home Bonnie and Jaws were going to backed out, so I'm going to my fallback home. If that doesn't work they're going to be listed for sale.
