Birds Express still has them listed for $25 each. However, they now require a $250 minimum order. It is the old supply and demand rule--when they were very plentiful, they were inexpensive. As the numbers fall, the prices go up. I haven't heard of any restriction on imports of this species, but all African species are in short supply these days. If you look at Birds Express website, they only list 11 African species available, out of more than 60 species of finches and softbills. Also, where they list their new arrivals for March, not a single African species! That is scary!
3 Purple Grenadiers, 1 Goldbreast + 1 cat.

It is crazy- BE told me the feather is not good right now because breeding season - So they don't take order - that is funny - They said the end of March they know better.
I better get mine going on breeding.
