A & E Double Flight Outside???

Post by epriddy » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:12 pm

Hi There~

I just purchased another A&E Double side by side flight. I bought online from mysafebirdstore.com for the most decent price I've seen since Christmas. Anyway, I'm thinking of setting it up on my back porch for the summer? Maybe my birds would like some time out there? It would be pretty much in the open. Maybe too dangerous? I'm unsure.

Thanks,
Elissa

Depends on where you live and what predators, bugs, rodents, and other vermin are around. Also, you have to keep part of the flight shaded, so they have a place to go if it gets hot. I take my A&E double flight outside on nice days, for part of the day. I put a shade cloth on one end and the rest gets the sun. I only do this when I'm home so I can monitor for any critters or other problems. They do love being outside when the weather is nice.

Birds of prey can quickly scare or even kill finches. Raccoons can reach into small spaces between bars. I have learned the hard way! I have a friend who lost some gouldians and a parrot finch when a hawk knocked her flight cage over trying to get the birds. She never got them back!

Yeah, I've decided that that was pretty much an awful idea....
I'm just going to have to re-arrainge the bird room to squeeze another double wide in there. :D

I used to put mine out on the back porch in a rolling flight cage, but I brought them in every night. That got to be too much trouble.
