Which swing / perches?

Post by Kiko » Mon Apr 07, 2008 10:20 pm

I see that many have said they prefer the prevue swing.
What size is best, 3.5inch long, 5 inch, 6inch...???

For my cage 30" longx 18 wide - what is the best set up.
One perch at each end? - I was thinking of using manzanita at each end. Do I buy the narrowest I can find? How do I know which one is best for little finch feet?

Do you put the swing in the middle or at one end?

I want to start picking things up, to be ready, and I'd rather buy the right stuff the first time. I have searched the forum but didn't find any specifics.

Thanks!
Lynn

With my 30x18x18 or 34x18x18 cages, I put a branch at each end (manzanita would be great). The main thing is that there would be varying thickness from one end of the perch to the other, so that will exercise their little feet more. Then I put the swing in the middle, I think my swings are 3.5.

For perches I have a couple manzanita and some natural willow branches from our own trees so they have a nice variety of sizes for their feet.

Being I only have a small flight cage I only have one swing I have close to the middle. Sometimes I put a second one in there just to change things up a bit for a little while.

Thank you, thats great. I have access to wild apple branches, and I know how to bake them to get rid of any creatures. But I do want to start with "bought" pieces, and I need to search for prevue swings in our city.

I really like the Perchup swings and perches. I can't say if they really help with keeping nails trimmed, but where possible I have a swing and a short perch in every cage as a nice alternative to wood.
