What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
These pics were taken one week after fledge. Are they enough to tell what mutation they are? Mom is split to black cheek and Dad is split to pied. Also, can they be sexed?

Bottom picture...white with black dusting is a CFW
Center pied
far left looks normal but hard to tell from the angles the bird sits.
What are the parents visually...can you post a picture?

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
Thank you guys!
I'm trying to get better pictures of the grey one, but I don't have the best reflexes today.
Here are a couple shots of the parents. I'll be back shortly with a few more of the chicks.

Ok, back with a couple more pics showing the grey one better.

And one more just for the cuteness factor.

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
aww they are so cute!
one is like dad, a normal gray pied.
the gray one is like mom, normal grey.
And the dad must be split cfw.
Because there is a cfw girl in the group
If you pair the mom with a male split to BC or
male full bc, then you could get BC chicks.
because mom look like she is split BC.

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
All of the chicks are split to Black Cheek because mom is. Mom is a normal grey black cheek split to pied(because you have a pied baby)
Dad is a normal gery pied male split to CFW
The chicks are CFW(the white one with grey on the head) / Black cheek
Pied(grey with white all over it) / black cheek
and the last one is a normal grey split to black cheek

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
Thanks so much for the responses!
I have a followup question, though. I didn't know what CFW meant so I looked it up here: http://www.efinch.com/species/cfwzeb.htm. It says the CFW females have a dark tear drop. Her's is a light colored tear drop, very faint. Will it get darker as she gets older?
As for breeding for black cheeks, I really love the way they look, but I don't have the time or room for more finches.

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
Based on what Vargur is saying these are the possibilities from your pairing the two
male pied/CFW mom NG/BC
12.5% Males >> Gray / Pied , Black Cheeked
12.5% Males >> Gray / Pied
12.5% Females >> Gray, CFW / Pied , Black Cheeked
12.5% Females >> Gray, CFW / Pied
12.5% Males >> Gray / Pied , Black Cheeked , CFW
12.5% Males >> Gray / Pied , CFW
12.5% Females >> Gray / Pied , Black Cheeked
12.5% Females >> Gray / Pied
not all young are split to BC because mom is split, she would have to be a full BC to pass it onto all offspring. You would have to look for the marker traits in the offspring to ID the ones split to BC.
this site will help you ID split traits http://zebracrazy.byethost13.com/Splits.htm (thank you Elma!)

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
Katie, the only way to tell if the bird is split is to loo for the marker traits....sometimes they don't always show. I pm'd you back a link to help as a guide for you.

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
Cindy, thanks for clarifying about the split to black cheek stuff.
Katie, I appreciate your efforts and I liked the way you wrote it all out since I'm not the best at reading finch short hand code.

Re: What are these 3 Zebra chicks?
mom is also a pied carrier, even though it does not show on her.
yes the tear mark will get stronger in color as the CFW chick
gets older.
but she could be fawn cfw.
cant see it very well..
can you maybe take a pic of the tail, back and front?
here is one of my fawn CCFW.
