I'm actually not supposed to admit to working for the store I work for online, and I'm not supposed to even comment on any issues like this.
But sometimes I can't help it, I just try to be very careful in what I say

And about the free finch... that's part of policy... we can't discount animals. But we can adopt them out if they're deemed unsaleable for any reason.
I'm currently looking for good homes for a russian hamster who was returned with an eye injury, and a mouse that has a permanent scar where his brother bit him

. It's not easy to find homes for these guys sometimes...everyone wants the "perfect" animal, when sometimes these guys are much nicer because of all the handling and TLC they've been given while recovering.
