plucked naked society baby

Post by kheather » Mon May 14, 2012 4:25 pm

took care of a friends birds for the weekend...she had two little baby societies the parents had all but plucked bald ,only feathers are head and wings...well the one was soooo adorable even with no feathers...I asked her if I could have it! It appears maybe a creamino or some sort of light mutation. it has white wings and is a super light beige and white on head...so far, oh tail is white....body still a mystery!! I love surprises..reddish eyes also. So it's here, getting eggfood, feather fast, and a heat light the whole nine yards. I think it's gonna be a really pretty bird when feathered out!Hope it's a girl. I named it Cupid. :D

Aw geez :(
I hate it when the parents pluck the chicks, and even worse when they pluck it that much. I have had zebras die from being BADLY plucked, and they were not plucked as bad as your chick.

Keep the heat lamp on 24x7.

gud luk with the little one.

Cupid is a boy he was singing a few minutes ago. :D he took a bath in his water and was shivering very badly...light made him feel better, he was still wet when I took his pics. He is in with two males and they cuddle him and are very gentle. I think he will do fine. He is also eating just fine, since naked I can see what he's eating in his crop. :D LOL

Looking and doing great he is!!! He still hovers under the lights, but sings and is feeling better. I am happy with his progress in such a short time. See his ruby eyes? What color is he, anyone know? Maybe creamino? He came out of a mixed aviary with an all white male and some fawn pied hens! I brought the white male home too!! :D :D (he was originally mine.) I assume the all white male must be his father because all the other societies in there are dark.

just a few pins here and there, although I think now that he regrew he is now starting his juvie molt!! poor guy... rough start to life! I will keep the eggfood and feather fast in his diet until he is sorted out!! Cupid sure is a sweety though!!! Anyone know what his color would be??? His colored area on head and neck is lighter by alot compared to the fawn birds in his aviary I rescued him from.

I don't know that much about Societies, but don't the red eyes make him a creamino?

Here is a link to some information on creamino Societies. Since Cupid is a male, you can breed him with a chocolate hen and get ino hens and split males.
