scambled egg?

just wondering if anybody uses scrambled egg, instead of boiled egg to feed their birds---would there be any nutrient loss?

Never tried it don't exactly know if any nutrients will be lossed. What are you cooking it in eg olive oil butter.

I personally just feed hard boiled eggs but I know of several others that scramble their eggs and it seems to work fine. I would try it and see if your birds like it, some can be rather picky.

I was wondering the same thing...I use to give my Grey a small piece of French toast and he loved it. I would be concerned with finches about the butter or cooking spray used in pans. They do make these little containers that you can cook eggs in the microwave. I picked one up and have not tried it yet. I think Janine uses that method for hers.

Couldn't you use the oils that some people add to their seed and egg food in the pan? just thinking

I've found my finches enjoy scrambled eggs better then the hard boiled. I scramble my eggs with out any butter or oil and add a small bit of the eggshell with it for added calcium. If you cook it at the right temperture, and use a plastic spoon, continously stiring, I find the egg doesnt stick. Then I pour a very small amount of coconut oil and mix it all up before serving it. They sometimes actually will fight over it in the aviaries.

From the pix, it looks like he is using a teflon pan, so no oil needed.

Puglover, I like the way you do the scrambled eggs adding some of the shell. Gives me a good idea for adding a few veggies too.

Also, I do a "birdie quiche" in the microwave with the eggs, veggies, multigrain bread and a tiny bit of cheese. All the birds go crazy for it. Just be very careful that there are NO hot spots before serving.

sounds like scrambled egg is ok, lots of good ideas here, i like the quiche idea and i have been thinking of a birdy omelet kind of thing. think i will try without any type of oil in the pan first and if i find i need something i may try a small amount of olive oil. i was more concerned about possible nutrient loss, but it sounds like others are happy with this and some of the birds are very happy, so sounds good. also thanks for the links, they have been added to my favorites.
