What kind of toys, if any, can you put in the finches cage?

I've read that finches don't care for toys...I've also read that they love toys.
My budgies don't care for store bought toys much. In fact a lot of times they're scared of them. They love the homemade junk like a plastic ring with strings tied around it, or a bell hanging on a chain. Go figure.
Is there any particular toy that the finches go for besides a piece of string hanging in the cage. That even looks boring.

they tend to not be interseted in toys but they will usually use a swing if you put one in the cage. i dont use anything toys because i try to keep mine more natural looking.

I guess I'm the odd person out here as I do have toys in all my finches cages and they all play with the toys. I include swings as toys too.

I have rings and swings and pull toys and preening toys. The finches land on the rings and swings and really rock them! They pick at the preening toys and land on and pull at the pull toys.

I'm talking about my Society Finches and Lady Gouldians both adults and babies.

Sheesh!
I guess it's a matter of choice then. Our budgie cage started to look like Pee Wee's Playhouse with all the toys. They didn't play with them so we took them out.
Maybe I'll try one of those with the finches. The used the swing for about a week now it's just ignored.
I don't know yet. But I sure do like finding out what others are doing.
Hmmm...decisions, decisions.

The babies are going to be coming out in a day or two. I can't wait.
Maybe I'll wait on the redecorating.
We have a lot of the manzanita branches on hand for the natural look.
We have a lot of toys on hand for the playhouse look.
What to do, what to do.

Just personal choice isn't it?...When I had an aquarium it was planted with water weed and a few natural interesting looking rocks.My neighbours' had a sunken treasure chest and a plastic mermaid

Each to their own I suppose.

I guess you could try one or two and see if your finches like them - but give them a while to get used to them and then actually playing with them.

We have a fresh water aquarium and there are really nice fake coral, rocks and plants in it. I think the treasure chest and mermaid is nice for a kids aquarium.
So I'm leaning more toward the natural finch cage by using the manzanita branches and maybe a fake plant.

Boy, they sure do like their toys. The problem is that my husband keeps wanting to put perches all over the place. There won't be any room for these guys to fly back and forth.

Mine love swings. I have alot of swings, but they will push each other off and fight over the swings. They also like the preening toys. I hang them around and they often play with them. That's all I use.

I would be more of a mind to think your finches are "playing" kinda like a game of tag rather than fighting over the swings. They are such fun for them!

I would think the same except for I have one gouldian and her name is Sugar. She thinks this certian swing is hers and hers alone. She is so funny. She will DARE anybody else to get on it. It is a pretty swing with beads and she stays on it all the time.

You know what? I'm going to try a couple of the budgies hand me downs. Lord knows they have enough of them to share.
Just from the looks of things and the comments they seem to enjoy them. It probably gets a little boring for them just going back and forth.

I tried a swing once with my Javas and they were absolutely terrified of it, wouldn't go anywhere near it, maybe because they were too young, I may try again now that they are older.

One thing they love and it keeps them busy for ages, I hung a shoelace from the top of the cage and the two ends dangle about 4 inches apart just above the top perch, they love playing with that. I also sewed a couple of buttons on to the sides of the cages and this also keeps them busy for ages

I love it! Strings and buttons.
Just like my budgies. I can spend $5 on a toy that they won't go near, won't play with and sometimes afraid of it.
But make something out of string and buttons/beads and it's the best. I did give the finches one of the budgies hand-me-downs, made of string and beads and the male has a ball with it. I quit trying to figure it out. As long as they're enjoying themselves that's all that counts.
