Update on the Finches

Post by jamezyboo21 » Wed May 14, 2008 2:59 pm

I got a pair of mannikins the other day at a family owned pet shop and they are very close bonded. i dont know if there a male and a female because i havent seen any eggs but as soon as i put a nest in the cage they went straight for it and when they shared a cage with gouldians and orange cheek waxbills they were very protective of the nest so i pt them in a cage to themselves. and now the orange cheeks have a cage to themselves i know for sure there a pair because i seen the male singing and the lady i got the from says she has had eggs from them before. and they too are very bonded. My gouldians pair have not paired up yet bt now they sleep near each other and the female is starting to get her color finally, looks like another red head. Hoping its a female, i was told she was about 9 months when i got them so hopefully its a female and they will eventually pair up. i thought she laid eggs in her nest but they turned out to be zebras. oh yeah i also just got the orange cheeks the other day to and they are doing great. i excited. and im suppose to be getting cordon blues and starfinches next week. the star finches are a proven pair as well are the cordons.

the orange-cheek to me has a better song then my society and zebras songs.
He is higher pitched and a little louder and he loves chasing the female around while he sings. The mannikins have been making noise but im not sure i heard any singing from them. there very bonded like a male and female pair but i really dont know if there both males or females or if there a male and female.
