Dead finch, any ideas?

Post by beccafigs » Mon May 19, 2008 12:07 pm

One of zebra finches, Fattycakes, died in the night. :( I'd had him for about a year now. I had noticed that he was a bit puffy the last two days or so but it wasn't extreme and he wasn't lethargic. I had intended to get him some extra heat but the last couple days I have been really busy and hadn't gotten to it yet. I looked him over and there is a hard lump on his lower abdomen and his skin is a bit off color around it. I know there are tons of reasons for lumps and stuff, but I thought perhaps someone might have some insight. I'm not going to take him in for a necropsy; the vets I've found nearby who "do" birds don't do finches. Thanks in advance for any input.

I don't know what it could have been, but let me say I am so sorry for the loss. It is hard to loose one of your little birds.

So sorry to hear about Fattycakes. It is always hard to lose any of our fids. I'm not much help with health issues.

Thanks for the kind words. Pepper, his woman, has been looking for him. :(

FeatherHarp- As my friend Jess told me today, at least he was around long enough to have a baby; little Chubbycakes. :)

That is nice he was able to leave his legacy. And what a name....LOL! You must post pics of ChubbyCakes sometime! :D

Hmmmmm......If ChubbyCakes has babies....you will have to keep the theme going. Like.....BabyCakes......SugarCakes.
