So. . . my new society finch and my cordon bleu seem to be living examples of "one of these things just doesn't belong here." It seems that they realize that they do not look like and they just aren't the buddies I hopes they would be. . .YET. I saw them peck at each other's beaks a few times over millet spray and wonder if they hate each other. I hope they don't pick on each other all day while I'm at work.
SO . . .do you think it would be unwise to add another society finch or another bleu or just leave them be together???

Here's my personal opinion. Right now you have two so they have company, even if they aren't buddies. If you get another society, it'll probably buddy up with your society and the cb will be the odd one out. If you get another cb, same thing with the society by itself. Then you'd still be worried about them! I actually ended up with 2 extra birds when I went to get a mate for my cb (back when the pet stores still had them). He was in a cage alone with a society, and I couldn't leave her there alone so bought them both. Then had to go to another store to buy the society a little buddy.... Maybe that's why I now have 80+ finches!
I wouldn't worry about a little squabble over the millet. As long as they're not chasing and fighting, you're probably just fine.
