Looking for an aviary

Post by nurse123 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 2:46 pm

I have a couple smaller breeding type cages. But want a large community aviary. I really don't like the look of the all wire cages. Does anyone know of anywhere to get a wood and plexiglass type cage. Or anyone that makes them in WI? Also, not looking to spend an arm and leg. I have been scouring craigslist but they are either not that great looking or are already sold. :(

Thanks

Most of the premade aviaries I find online are pricey. Have you checked out the panel-form aviary written up in the Finch Information Center? It is an easy way to build an indoor aviary/flight without too much expense.

Also, if you look through the thread "Do you have an aviary?" posted as a sticky at the top of this forum, there are some good ideas there.

Here's a site that birdtricks.com uses :) It looks like it has some good plexiglass aviaries :) http://www.cagesbydesign.com/t-hybridbird.aspx

I'm not sure how far Wisconsin is from Missouri, but someone in Nevada, Missouri has a used oak plexiglass aviary that needs some work. http://www.hoobly.com/UupjEKd-/large-oa ... aviary.htm

You may be able to negotiate the price some? One of our newest members (MissEdie) just got a identical aviary for free. Good luck! :)

I'm not sure if you saw this already, but here's a glass aviary in Wausau, WI. "Decent shape" the owner says, $100 - Price Negotiable.

Try eBay classifieds as well. If our willing to drive a bit, I'm sure you could find one. Good luck!

That person has a thread here about building the aviary. There were a number of pictures in the gallery, but when this forum was upgraded to a newer version, the gallery was lost. However, in the thread, there is a link to photos of all the construction stages.
