Does anyone know or have you tried giving your finches cooked oatmeal?
I have quite a bit of Publix Old Fashioned Oats and was wondering if I can give some plain cooked ones to the finches.
Oatmeal
Re: Oatmeal
The best way to get it to the birds is inside mealworms. Raising mealworms in uncooked oatmeal is way better than bran.

Re: Oatmeal
I agree with Charlie....serving cooked oatmeal is messy, it sticks to beaks, feathers and feet.

Re: Oatmeal
I always used to raise and keep the mealworms in oat bran until I read somewhere that too much of that is actually not good for finches and it's better to keep the worms in wheat bran. I wonder if that also applies to oatmeal not only oatbran. I'll try to find the information.
