Re: Doves & Quail?
Also, just a thought, since domstic ducks are kept with clipped wings, I have heard of people feeding them in a pen, and when you do the evening feed you just keep them penned for the night, and let them out after youfeed them in the morning

Love love love the picture Sally! Coyotes can be a real problem. Not sure I would get llamas, my brother-in-law had some and they love to spit at you and boy does it smell, though I have to say lots of people use them to protect their sheep and goat herds.

Re: Doves & Quail?
We never clipped any wings on the ducks or geese. On occassion we would loss a few to coyotes and snapping turtles.

Re: Doves & Quail?
Llamas are ferrous (sp?). I've heard of one llama being able to keep up to 5 coyotes at bay at once. Don't know if it's true but they are definitely great protectors. A girl brought one to school for show and tell one time lol.
Owls, Goulds, European Goldfinch, Red Belly Siskins and Zebs... For now...

Dayna, those things are mean! One kick and the rest of those coyotes will scatter!

Re: Doves & Quail?
My brother-in-laws llamas would stop whatever they were doing if they saw a dog and follow it. If the dog got too close it would definitely get a kick. They sure don't like dogs of any kind.
