'Might' be addicted ...

Well i think i found my new love ... Parrotlet's! Omgosh Suko melted my heart and started a new addiction for me,i now have my Suko and a new 2 month old blue Parrotlet he's a male (Lando)
I don't intend to breed but to enjoy them both as family pet's.
Suko has her own space and so does Lando and though they can hear and see each other im not letting them hangout together as of yet,just because Lando is still clumsy and Suko was alone for so long,just want to err on the side of caution..
I just had to share the news with fellow bird lovers
Will add pictures tomorrow as its bedtime here

Congratulations! I'm so happy we have a hookbill forum now....it seems like parrotlets are the "it" species this season. Looking forward to your pictures tomorrow.

I agree with Bugaboo. I do think your title to the post should be changed to "Are" not "might"!!!!

Since your girl has been alone for so long and if you want to place them together put the cages near to each other but not close enough were toes can nipped if they are hanging on the cage. After a period of time you can put them together. When the time is right do not add one to the other's cage instead take one of the cages if large enough and change the perches food dishes around, offer new toys and add both to that cage at the same time...it will to them appear to be neutral territory.

They should adapt fairly well to the added companionship since they love to be in groups and pairs if they are not so people friendly. If one is friendly, the one that is not may slowly follow taking the other's lead once you put them together.

Me, too! When we decided to split the canaries off into their own forum, it made sense to also set up a separate forum for hookbills. Posts about hookbills were always placed or moved into the Off-topic forum, where they were quickly lost. This way, members with hookbills can help each other and keep all the information close at hand. And it looks like it has been a hit!

I do have a question about Lando,he's a bit bite-y at times,does this mean its break time or a natural thing? also how do i deter him from doing it? i know he's still little but when he get's Suko's size its gonna hurt

Our Green Cheek Conure is nippy too. She usually wants a snack if she is biting lots or she is tired of the activity and needs a break. I try to not use her cage as discpiline, but I tell her "No" and put her down, then is she does not nip again, she can come back on my shoulder. Also, sometimes, she just needs something to chew on or tear up, like paper, foraging toys or non-stained leather to chew. Mine seems to act like a teething toddler and needs to chew, so that is often why she nips.

I wish Sonny would talk, but she just makes small noises like a graveling chirp. Sometimes, I think her rhythm of sounds is trying to imitate our talk, but no one could understand any words. I know Green Cheek Conures are not known for talking. Oh well.
