Sally according to this review Calphalon uses polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) which is what you do not want.

Re: Teflon
Here is an article talking about it as a anodized aluminum cookware
http://environment.about.com/od/healthe ... okware.htm
Article on all the different types of cookware...
http://eartheasy.com/blog/2009/01/healthy-cookware/
I have stainless steel and cast iron. Some of the old Vision cookware was nice until I had a skillet and a casserole shatter either on the stove or as I took it out of the oven...it didn't just crack it blew apart.

Re: Teflon
Just found this from the Calphalon company:
http://calphalon.custhelp.com/app/answe ... n%E2%AE%3F
http://calphalon.custhelp.com/app/answe ... n%E2%AE%3F
So you need to make sure there are no PTFE's in your cookware not just the brand "teflon"Does your cookware contain Teflon®?
Teflon® is a registered trademark of DuPont and a brand name for polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) a nonstick finish. While Calphalon cookware features polytetrafluoroethylene-based nonstick finishes, we are not associated with, nor do we use, Teflon® branded products.

Re: Teflon
Thanks everyone for all this info...as a new finch owner this has really helped me out. We are moving soon and I was hoping to buy all new cookware, so now I know what to buy. Sounds like we need to get rid of Teflon not only for the birds but for our health too!

Re: Teflon
Yes, this has been an eye-opener for me, as I assumed the Calphalon was safe, since it wasn't technically 'teflon'. Guess I'm overdue for some stainless steel pots! I have a collection of cast-iron skillets and dutch oven--inherited from my mother. I just got spoiled making omelets in my small Calphalon skillet, it is basically maintenance free, but not worth it now.
