Mystery Chick

Post by okiebirds » Sun Aug 12, 2012 2:33 pm

Father OH/PB/DB/B
Mother BH/WB/BB

Chick is OH/WB/YB - male

According to the forecaster yellow has to be female

Weird... I did bounce a couple males around. Doubtfull but still possible that another Male could be the father. If so that male is BH/LB/YB/B but this male chick still doesnt calculate on the forecaster...hmmm

If your male is split for WB and your hen split for YH AND your male chick is a YH.WB.SFYb/Bb it would be visually yellow.

So:
Father YH.PB/WB.SFYb/Bb
Mother BH/YH.WB.Bb

Chick is YH.WB.SFYb/Bb - male

There it is... wow only a 3% chance of that chick's color combination.

That shows splits I wasnt aware of as both of these birds were bought with no record of their genes. Thats great I can update their records now!

thank you!!

Your very welcome! There are 32 different combos with those genetics, that's quite a pair!

Here he is almost completely colored in. I thought he was a OH but now that he has colored in he's RH

Since this was the first yellow that came out of my combinations I was curious about white and green splotches on his yellow back. Im assuming this isnt unusual and he will molt out of it next year?

The splotches are probably more because he looks SFYellow to me, which is common.
Very pretty bird!
