temperature

Okay, i have owned finches for a few months now but i have a question about the temperature. where i live right now we always have the air conditioner on. It stays around 70-75 degrees, is that okay? i know that when it is 70-5 outside it usually is warmer then 70-75 in the house.

I have had to move some birds in my house (the birdroom is 'No Vacancy'). I wondered about the a/c, too, but I don't keep my house as cool as yours, probably never below 75 and usually at 78. The one thing I would watch is that you wouldn't want a cage directly under the vent, if your vents are in the ceiling.

lol, i knew you would be the first to respond to my post. i was waiting, thanks sally. yeah i made sure they were kept on the opposite ide of the roo away fro the vent. i have had mine inside and decided yesterday to put them outside because it has been hot out, today it got up to 90 degrees and its bout 88 degrees now. the zebras and societys are always outside now and really like it especially after it rains. i have them on the balcony and the rains doesnt reach the cage. i keep my gouldians, orange cheeks, and bronzewings inside and have seen any breeding and i was wondering if the temperature was keeping them from breeding to. i want to keep them all outside but it is suppose to get down to 60 due to a thunderstorm heading toward virginia.

I'll bet they enjoy that fresh air. My birdroom is getting very hot now, we are in the 90's every day, so I bought a screen door so I have better cross ventilation. I'm pulling nests on some of my birds, as it is time for a rest for most of them.

Have you ever tried to breed bronze wings or orange cheeks? my societies ate all the tie too and i have not seen any eggs in there nests, i think i have at least 2 pairs out of the 5 of them and they still have no eggs. i have a ale and female and male gouldian and the male is now juping when he sings and the female is now starting to finish her molt and i think she might be an orange head. Right now i see a little orange on her head but i dont know if it will eventually turn red once she finishes her molt.

Haven't bred Bronze-winged Mannikins or Orange-cheek waxbills. I have one BW Mannikin, but he doesn't have a mate, so he lives in the community flight. Once your Gouldians finish their molt, their beaks will start to change color, and when the tips are very deep red (males) and black (females), they will be in breeding mode.

i hoping one is a female. i def know one is a male because he constantly sings and he has a dark red tip on his beak and a long tail feather that points. the other one has been molting a lot lately for a while i didnt see any progress but in this last month i can almost see all the green on the back and i might possibly have a orange head. the beak has turned a little less black but is still black and i havent heard singing from it and no pointed feather, i dont know if males are the only ones that have that point or not.
