Re: perch questions
My husband built me one that is on a stand and sits on the floor that looks like that. We used different types of perches though and even used some branches for perches. My birds love it!lisamariebrom wrote:does anyone use those sun deck perches? and does anyone use

We use natural manznita perches and sandy perches (sandy covered manzanita for our perches. The primary reason we use manzanita is that it is natural. No two are alike. The diameter changes in size from base to tip giving the birds various perch diameters, and exercises their feat and legs more than regular dowel rod type perches. The manzanita has some bouce to it unlike dowle type perches. You could easily make a perch tree with manzanita if you chose to. Here are links to the perches we use and sell.

Hey Lisa~
I just came in from hanging more manzanita in my outdoor avairy and have to say its a creative wood to use as a perch. If you age it a few months in the sun/ wheather you will get a rougher surface than right off the tree/bush. Great color and easy to clean with a hose. Lucky for me I get all I want by visiting a friend who has it growing on their property in the Mother Lode area. Try it if can get it at a decent price.
