changes to zupreem fruit blend?
I just bought a 10lb bag of zupreem fruit blend for finches from Beaver Creek Aviary (bulkbirdfood.com I think). Anyway, I opened it today, and noticed 2 things - one, the colors aren't as bright as the smaller bags I have gotten at the pet stores, and two, no fruit scent!! I like zupreem because it smells so tasty, and I'm sure that plays a part in the birds' liking of it too. this bag has ZERO fruit scent. it smells kinda like rabbit food, or strangely, like the veggie section of the grocery store.
the bag isn't expired, and this my first order from this place. I don't mind the color change, but I'm concerned the scent will put the birds off. I'm a little worried that the bag is bad, but it doesn't particularly strike me as moldy-smelling.
anyone else recently have zupreem fruit blend like this?

I also order from them and I have not had any issue with the birds rejecting it. The red though is not favored.

I use mostly the Roudybush nibbles. I get it direct from the company. I go in on an ordr with him and get 50 pounds or more at a time. I als use the Lafeber's finch for young and feeding parents.

I am thinking about the roudy bush nibbles also, they seem cheaper and I don't like artificial color anyways

Dante, it is easy to grind to so it makes a good weaning food. I use the ground as emergency handfeeding food as well. I am not a fan of KayTee.

Re: changes to zupreem fruit blend?
The Zupreem XS is smaller than the Roudybush nibbles (their smallest size).
I use 3 different pellet food
- Lafebers Finch Food
- Roudybush Maintenance (Nibbles)
- Zupreem (XS)
I make sure to use all 3 so the birds are used to them. That way if there is any supply problems with one of them, switching over to one of the others is not an issue.

Either one, Roudybush I think is cheaper. You can mix if you want, I do from time to time for variety.
