Hi ALL,
I actually know bit about it but just need to confirm that whether i am right or wrong.
I have some BC-CFW pairs which have light cheeks and flanks. I mean not dark black color.
I have, Male : BC/CFW Female: BC.
Babies i got: BC Male and BC-CFW Female (but cheeks are not dark).
If i pair this BC-CFW female with her father which is BC/CFW, will i get BC-CFW males and females with dark cheeks?
Or is there any other way?
How to darken Cheeks color of BC-CFW

To darken the cheeks you can breed BC to BC CFW...you will ecpect to get some visual BCCFWsplit tp BC and visual BC split to BCCFW....take the visual BCCFW/BC and breed them to BCCFW.
From what I recall your offspring are young...BCCFW take a while darken their markings, have your offspring gone through a major molt yet?

no, they are still molding.
I am little confuse, u are saying i will get BCCFW/BC and BC/BCCFW while pairing BC x BCCFW. But according to genetic calculator.
BC male x BCCFW Female =
50% Black cheeked /Chestnut flanked white Males
50% Black cheeked Females
BCCFW Male x BC Female =
50% Black cheeked /Chestnut flanked white Males
50% Black cheeked Chestnut flanked white Females

Re: How to darken Cheeks color of BC-CFW
Sarim, I have done this three times, when pairing a BC with a BCFW I got both visual BC and Visual BCCFW in a clutch...the visual BC are split to the BCCFW and the visual BCCFW/BC
I took the visual BCCFW and paired it with a full BCCFW and got all BCCFWs
I took the visual BC/BCCFW offspring paired it with a full BC and BC offspring.
All I can relay to you is my experience in doing this. The first time I tried putting a BC female with a BCCFW male I got a visual BCCFW, white as can be black cheeks and beautiful. Repeated again and got 3 BCCFW visual offspring.
The next pair, a BC male and a BCCFW female I set up gave me visual BC and visual BCCFW in the clutch (the BC offspring will have a lighter gray back and whiter stomach than the buff you see in BC)(the visual BCCFW offspring will have a bit more dusting on them and it may run down the back, should molt out or if using to breed back to a full BCCFW than the offspring from that pair should be whiter).

Ok cindy thanks for your response.
Tell me one more thing. Would it be a good idea to pair daughter (BC-CFW) with her dad (BC split to CFW)? i mean would it be okay?

Line breeding is not something I do but it is done to strengthen a gene line. If done it should only be done once...father to daughter, son to mom and the offspring should always be paired out to unrelated birds.
