together in nest basket

Post by stephen379 » Sun Jun 01, 2008 4:25 pm

i have a hen and cock zebra in the breeding cage they have been in there for 10 days only this evening i went to check on them and they were both in on e of the nest baskets i provided them with nesting material, i havent seen them mate yet, but this is the first time i have seen them this close together, is this a sign of mating or is it just a comfort thing, the hen seems slightly bigger than the cock bird is this normal within the species.

a male and female zebra usually bond pretty quickly but sometimes there are those stubborn ones. If they are already making a nest, that may be a sign that they will soon mate or that they have already mated. It can be hard to catch them mating unless you watch them a lot. I used to watch my finches a lot more while healing from my surgery, and that is when I saw lots of mating, but since I've been more occupied, I haven't seen any mating.
